Processors: AMD EPYC, AMD Ryzen and Intel Xeon
For root servers and vServers, FameSystems relies on AMD EPYC. The large number of cores and high memory throughput are ideal for running virtual machines with dedicated resources. Dedicated servers for hosting and gaming run on AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors, which score with high clock speeds per core, something game servers and databases feel directly. The Intel Xeon line is the budget-conscious entry level with SSD storage.

AMD EPYC
Many cores, high memory throughput: the basis for root servers and vServers with dedicated resources.
EPYC root serversAMD Ryzen 7000
High clock speed per core for dedicated servers, game servers and databases.
Ryzen dedicated serversIntel Xeon
The budget-conscious entry level with SSD storage, as a KVM root server or LXC vServer.
Intel root serversMemory: DDR4 and DDR5
The EPYC and Ryzen lines are available with either DDR4 or DDR5. DDR5 delivers significantly more bandwidth and helps wherever many processes access memory at the same time, such as databases, virtualisation and game servers with many players.

Storage: NVMe instead of SATA
All EPYC and Ryzen servers use NVMe SSDs. They are attached directly to the PCIe bus and achieve many times the access rates of classic SATA SSDs. You notice this during installations, backups and any application with many small writes. The Intel line is equipped with SSD storage.

Virtualisation: KVM and LXC
Two technologies, two price ranges. Which one fits depends on the operating system and your requirements.
Network: 2× 10 Gbit/s per server
Every server has a dual 10 Gbit/s uplink and sits behind Arbor Networks DDoS mitigation. The location is the Maincubes FRA01 data centre in Frankfurt am Main, right at DE-CIX.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions we are asked most often about this.
KVM is full virtualisation with its own kernel, Windows is possible too. LXC is container virtualisation for Linux only, but cheaper and lighter on resources.
Yes, Windows packages are available on all KVM root servers with AMD EPYC. LXC vServers support Linux only.
Yes. CPU cores, memory and NVMe storage are firmly allocated and not oversold.
For memory-intensive applications such as databases, virtualisation and large game servers, yes. For simple websites or small bots, DDR4 is perfectly sufficient.
Yes. You can book upgrades at any time via the customer area. If you are already using the largest package, we will create a custom upgrade on request.
