What is a root server & vServer?
A root server gives you full root access to a virtual server with dedicated CPU cores, RAM and NVMe storage. Unlike classic shared hosting, you do not share performance with other customers. At FameSystems every root server runs as a KVM instance on AMD EPYC, AMD Ryzen or Intel Xeon hardware in the TÜV Level 3 and ISO 27001 certified data center in Frankfurt am Main.
Which platform is right depends on the workload: AMD EPYC offers many cores and lots of memory for virtualization, containers and databases. AMD Ryzen with DDR5 delivers the highest single-core performance, ideal for game servers and latency-sensitive applications. Intel Xeon is the affordable entry for web projects, bots and test environments. A vServer (LXC) is even cheaper but shares the kernel with the host.

Which option suits you?
Four typical situations and our recommendation for each.
You run game servers or latency-sensitive applications
Performance per core is what counts here. AMD Ryzen with DDR5 delivers the highest clock speeds in the range.
To the Ryzen root serverYou need many cores for virtualization, Docker or Kubernetes
AMD EPYC scales across many cores and lots of memory. With DDR5 also for memory-intensive workloads.
To the EPYC DDR5 root serverYou need Windows Server with Remote Desktop
Windows root servers come with a license and RDP access, on DDR4 or DDR5 hardware.
To the Windows root serverYou want to start cheaply or try something out
An Intel vServer or Intel root server is the most affordable entry, upgradable at any time.

The most common hosting infrastructures are LXC vServer hosting, KVM root server hosting, cloud hosting and dedicated hosting. The main feature for a dedicated server is that this server is a hosting environment for a single customer. With most hosting options, a server is divided between several customers. vServer hosting, for example, distributes the resources of a physical server between several virtual machines.
With a dedicated server, the user has all the resources that the server has to offer. For this reason, dedicated servers are the most powerful option in hosting, hardly any other option offers more performance and flexibility.
Servers of this type are sometimes called bare-metal servers. The term bare-metal suggests that the user is close to the metal of the physical hardware. Unlike a cloud server that contains a hypervisor layer, users of a bare-metal server can use all the hardware. A dedicated server means the same as a bare metal, so you can consider the two things to be identical.
What is the difference between vServer and Rootserver hosting? Our traditional vServers are delivered using Linux vServers (container virtualisation), while KVM Rootserver is a full virtualisation. The difference is that with root servers you get full access to all hardware-related functions. You can use your own kernel, configure network settings, mount your own ISO files, access a VNC console and have exclusive access to dedicated CPU cores and resources. This gives you even more control over your server.
With our server hosting you enjoy numerous advantages, such as:
Cost-efficiency: Our hosting solutions offer you a cost-effective way to access powerful server resources such as AMD EPYC processors.

A domain consists of several elements and is read from back to front, which is why it is called a top-level domain, second-level domain and third-level domain. The "top-level domain" contains the domain extension, the "second-level domain" the website name and the "third-level domain" the subdomain/host name.
www . FameSystems .de
www = third-level domain (subdomain)
FameSystems = Secound-Level-Domain (name of the domain/website)
de = top-level domain (domain extension)
Which TLD (top-level domain) is the right one for me? Does it make sense to include the main keyword (for SEO) in the domain name? Which third-level domain suits my business idea? If you are faced with the task of finding a good domain name, our knowledge database on domains in the HelpDesk can help you.
The third-level domain is the area before the registered domain. The most common variant for a website is "www." In our example "help.famesystems.de", the third-level domain is "help." This represents a subdomain of the second-level domain "famesystems".
Subdomains can be used to divide your own site into separate areas, such as in the customer portal. Our customers access the web interface via the full domain name "panel.famesystems.de". For example, if you want to run a blog or online shop alongside your website, you could use a subdomain such as "Blog" or "Shop".
Domains are entered specifically when they are burned into the user's mind. Most people remember favourite websites and their domain names and type them into the address line of the browser. Therefore, if you want to find a good domain name, make sure that the domain name meets the following requirements:
1. to understand immediately
2. error-free typing
3. good to remember
4. short and to the point
5. no special characters in the domain name
Simplicity is the soul of wisdom. The shorter the domain name, the easier it is to remember. However, shorter does not necessarily mean better. Abbreviations with four or more letters can be difficult to remember. So watch out for abbreviations or complex structures and choose your own domain name that is powerful and suitable for your website content. Important: Avoid special characters! An easy-to-remember domain name consists only of numbers and letters. The only special character allowed is the hyphen. This is used to connect two or more words.
No. Our prepaid web hosting offers numerous advantages, as you always retain control over the costs incurred. Prepaid web hosting is very suitable for product launches, events, marketing or people who do not want to commit to a monthly or annual contract. Prepaid web hosting is paid monthly by credit. If your web space is no longer needed, you can simply let it expire.
Don't panic! After your product expires, you have 7 days to renew it. If you no longer need your web space, you can simply let it expire for 7 days and it will be automatically deleted. Please note that all products that are not paid (renewed) after 7 days will be irrevocably deleted.
The amount of web space your project needs in detail depends on the data to be made available. A website with a lot of video material or download offers needs more storage space than a text-heavy homepage.
A simple website with a few subpages can be created and operated with around 1 GB of storage space, while extensive web projects can quickly need around 100 GB and more. Before you decide on a web hosting plan, pay attention to the size of the web space you need for your project. If you should need a larger tariff at some point, this can simply be rebooked.
Plesk makes web hosting accessible to everyone. It is possible to create and manage email addresses, websites, databases, redirects, FTP accounts, Wordpress and much more without any specialist knowledge.
