What the mitigation at FameSystems does
A freshly installed server is found by automated scanners within minutes. They try default passwords, known vulnerabilities and open ports, around the clock. A domain transfer always works the same way: unlock the domain at the old provider and get the auth code, order the transfer with this code at the new provider, answer the confirmation e-mail. After a few hours to five days the domain has moved. You avoid downtime by having the DNS records already set up at the new provider before the transfer.
